(Confirmed) Challenge Statement Webinar (Public Event)

We’re excited to share this year’s challenge, presented by Adcorpus:

“Addressing power efficiency: How can your total artificial heart be more power efficient to reduce the size of wearable components and improve patient quality of life?

Teams may consider spending time enhancing the power efficiency of their device and demonstrating efficiency values in their report and presentation. Future work to further enhance efficiency should also be detailed. For new teams who are not yet able to focus on power efficiency, they should focus on what methods will be applied in the future to improve this”

This challenge pushes teams to think beyond functionality and focus on one of the most critical aspects of artificial heart design — power efficiency. This is an opportunity to tackle a real-world engineering challenge that directly impacts patient mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life. We look forward to seeing the innovative solutions you bring forward

Agenda:

  • Intro to Adcorpus

  • Overview of Challenge Statement

  • Methods to evaluate/demonstrate power efficiency- computationally and physically

  • Q&A

(Confirmed) Virtonomy v‑Patient onboarding and Q&A (Private Event)

Zoom Link: Can be found here https://www.hearthackathon.com/private-content

Agenda:

  • v-Patient Walkthrough

  • v-Patient Q&A

  • General Heart Hackathon Q&A

We’re excited to announce a special v‑Patient Onboarding & Q&A Session for Heart Hackathon participants. This dynamic session is designed to give teams an early edge, offering a clear, intuitive walkthrough of the simulation tools they’ll rely on during the event. Whether you're new to in‑silico modelling or looking to explore advanced workflows, this is the perfect place to level up before the hackathon begins!

Leading the session is Petra Stefanec, a UI/UX Engineer at Virtonomy GmbH whose work sits at the intersection of medical innovation and cutting‑edge digital design. Petra has been instrumental in shaping the intuitive experience behind Virtonomy’s v‑Patient platform, making complex physiological modelling accessible to diverse research teams worldwide. Her expertise, clarity, and energy consistently elevate onboarding experiences — this is a session you won’t want to miss.

v‑Patient plays a transformative role in digital twinning, enabling teams to explore cardiovascular physiology, test device interactions, and simulate clinical scenarios with remarkable realism. For those working on Total Artificial Heart (TAH) concepts and related haemodynamic challenges, these tools provide a unique opportunity to experiment and innovate in a risk‑free virtual environment. This onboarding will equip participants with the confidence, insight, and practical skills to bring their hackathon concepts to life using next‑generation simulation technology.
